The One Piece manga series, created by Eiichiro Oda, is renowned for its vast array of characters, each with unique abilities and strengths. Amongst them, giants are a race of towering humanoids renowned for their colossal size, brute strength, and warrior spirit. Throughout the manga, various giants have demonstrated their overwhelming abilities, with some standing out as the strongest among their kin. As Emperor Straw Hat Luffy and his crew descend onto Elbaf, the legendary island of the giants, let us explore the most formidable giants in the One Piece universe, examining their abilities, accomplishments, and impact on the story.
Jaguar D. Saul: The Compassionate Giant
Not all powerful giants are defined solely by their combat prowess. Jaguar D. Saul, a former vice admiral of the Marines, demonstrated considerable strength alongside profound moral conviction. Introduced in Nico Robin’s flashback during the Enies Lobby arc, his desertion from the Marines due to his opposition to the Buster Call on Ohara revealed his principled nature.
Before his presumed death at the hands of Kuzan (Aokiji), Saul displayed impressive physical abilities when he single-handedly destroyed several Marine battleships. He withstands cannon fire and direct attacks from Vice Admiral Kuzan (later Admiral Aokiji) before being frozen solid—an attack that would have killed most others instantly.
His “D.” initial hints at a deeper connection to the series’ mysteries, and his sacrifice to save Robin underscores his strength of character. While not as battle-focused as others, Saul’s blend of physical and emotional resilience marks him as one of the strongest giants in spirit and deed. His display of a Haki infused punch further confirms his positions amongst the strongest giants in Elbaf.

John Giant: Marine Elite
While not as extensively featured as other giants, Vice Admiral John Giant represents the pinnacle of giant integration into the World Government’s forces. As one of the first giants to join the Marines, John has participated in various battles. Of course, during the Summit War of Marineford, he lost to Whitebeard. Then again, even current Fleet Admiral Sakazuki couldn’t defeat an aging ex-Emperor Whitebeard, what could John Giant do? As a vice admiral, he still stands among the best fighters of the Marines with proficiency in Haki techniques.
Oars and Little Oars Jr.: Ancient Titans
The continent-pulling giant Oars and his descendant Little Oars Jr. represent perhaps the most physically imposing giants introduced in the series. Oars, revived by Gecko Moria and enhanced with Luffy’s shadow, was nearly unstoppable until the combined might of the Straw Hat crew managed to defeat him.
Perhaps the most physically imposing giant in One Piece is Little Oars Jr., a descendant of the ancient giant Oars. Debuting during the Marineford arc, Little Oars Jr. towers over even other giants, standing at approximately 197 feet tall. His size alone makes him a walking calamity, but his strength elevates him to a league of his own among his kin.
At Marineford, Little Oars Jr. charges into battle to rescue Portgas D. Ace, displaying both incredible power and determination. He wields a colossal sword capable of slicing through Marine ships with ease, and his sheer mass allows him to plow through cannon fire and soldier ranks alike.
Also known as the “Continent-Puller”, while he lacks the Haki or Devil Fruit powers of some top-tier characters, his raw physicality and courage make him one of the strongest giants in the series.

Hajrudin: The New Giant Warrior Captain
Hajrudin represents the new generation of giant warriors. During the Dressrosa arc, Hajrudin was able to take out Machvise, one of the commanders of the Donquixote Pirates, demonstrating his strength despite being heavily injured. The force of his final blow was so tremendous that it shattered Hajrudin’s own arm in the process.
He was also a former S-class pirate mercenary for Buggy’s company, the Pirate Dispatch organisation, which Buggy was greatly upset when Hajrudin decided to quit.
As the current leader of the “New Giant Warrior Pirates”, now part of Luffy’s Straw Hat Grand Fleet, and a gladiator who survived the brutal Corrida Colosseum tournament, Hajrudin has positioned himself as one of the prominent giant figures in the current Elbaph arc storyline. Did we mention he is the prince of Elbaph as well?
Sanjuan Wolf: The Colossal Battleship
The largest amongst giants, Sanjuan Wolf stands nearly three times taller even than ancient giants. A devil user of the Huge-Huge Fruit, Wolf’s exact strength remains somewhat mysterious, but his position as one of Blackbeard’s Ten Titanic Captains confirms his combat capability.
Known as the “Colossal Battleship”, Wolf’s appearance during the Marineford War alone caused chaos on the battlefield, demonstrating how a giant of his magnitude can dramatically shift the course of conflicts through presence alone.
Losing to Marine legend Garp is nothing to be shameful of, and Sanjuan Wolf will remain a force to be reckoned with.

Dorry and Brogy: The Legendary Captains of Elbaf
Among the earliest giants introduced in One Piece are Dorry and Brogy, co-captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates. Encountered in the Little Garden arc, their strength is best showcased in their century-long duel, sparked by a disagreement over who killed a larger sea monster. This battle, fought daily on Little Garden, demonstrates not only their endurance but also their destructive capability, as their clashes shake the island and split the skulls of massive prehistoric beasts.
One of their signature combined attacks, the “Hakoku”, is able to unleash a shockwave that is powerful enough to cut Captain Kid’s ship into half, despite it being a far distance away.
Dorry and Brogy’s influence extends beyond their physical power. Their reappearance in the Egghead arc, aiding the Straw Hats against the Marines, reaffirms their relevance. Their upgraded bounty from $100 million to $1.8 billion berries make them one of the highest in the sea of pirates.
Loki: The Accursed Prince of Elbaph
With a bounty of $2.6 billion berries, this “Accursed Prince” of Elbaph stands amongst the most elite of the pirate seas of One Piece. It took the power of Emperor Red-Hair Shanks to bring him in from sea. His durability was also seen when he took on direct attacks from God Knights Gunko and Shamrock, even though he was chained with seastones that had greatly weakened him.
His one single swing of his large warhammer Ragnir is able to summon down huge bolts of lightning. He was also able to dodge attacks despite being blindfolded, a testament of his Haki ability.
Often referring to himself as the “Sun God” and the one who will “end the world”, is Loki truly as evil as how he wants to portray himself, or how the story goes of his prophecy of killing his father to obtain a devil fruit, let time show us.

King Harald: The Mysterious King of the Giants

Father to Hajrudin and Loki, he was supposedly killed by Loki years ago. While many countries’ kings may not really be the strongest fighters in their land (think Nefertari Cobra or Riku Doldo), we cannot imagine the same case in the land of giants, where strength is championed above many other characteristics.
Part of the Ancient Giants bloodline, Harald already has the natural strength from these relics of the war-torn era. His picture holding a large sword hint at him being a skilled swordsman. Let us wait in anticipation on how Oda reveals in time the true strength of this legendary king of the Giants.
